The colours of autumn

I love the colours of autumn, especially the maples.
This is my favourite for autumn colour.    It was planted by the previous owners.
No matter where you stand in the garden you cannot fail to notice the glorious colour of autumn.
It shines out like a beacon......it draws the eye.     It is beautiful.
Most summer blooms have faded but autumn blooms are just beginning to open.    Mahonia charity has just started flowering.    I noticed honey bees on them yesterday and it was not a particularly warm day.
Aconitum, a toxic plant, that needs respect.   I love the flowers, they are so pretty and the colour at this time of year is most welcome.
I have waited so long for this to flower.....Schizostylis pink princess.   I am not disappointed.    The palest pink flowers are so pretty and look incredibly fragile.    It seems so out of place in an autumn garden.     Schizostylis do not last long in this garden, probably around three years at the most.
I shall enjoy it while I can.............

Happy autumnal gardening.............

  1. I absolutely love the colour of acers, I've been promising myself one for quite a while but still haven't got round to buying one. Even Mick, who rarely has an opinion where plants are concerned, has expressed an interest so I really should get one. Your garden is looking stunning with its autumn colour and Nella seems to be enjoying it too.

    1. Hi Jo,
Morrisons often sell Acers at a very reasonable price. It might be worth a look if you use the store at all.
Nella loves the garden at this time of year. Like her owner she finds the heat of summer a little overwhelming at times:)

  2. It all looks so beautiful. I see that you got some of your mowing accomplished. I love the cut leaf Japanese maple. I have never seen the last two flowers. They are pretty. Mahonia isn't perennial in my garden. I love the green winter color. Those blooms are so pretty.Everything looks mighty rusty here. Some reds and yellows. Enjoy the season.

  6. That Japanese maple is gorgeous! I love the colors of autumn, too, and was just thinking this morning that I had better take some photos before all the leaves are gone. We have had a lovely autumn, though I'm still waiting for rain!

    1. Hope you get some rain soon Rose. Us gardeners always get concerned when the rains do not come.............
Our autumn has been mixed to date. Cold, sunny, wet I think we have had a little bit of everything :)
