Parting is such sweet sorrow.

Thursday night Mr P's mother went to sleep and never woke.    A short illness took her from us.   Peggy was a kind and gentle woman.   When you needed a shoulder or a gentle hug,  or words of comfort, it was to her we turned.   Always willing to stay in the background, and let others take the limelight.    Her manners, dress and conduct came from a bygone age.    An elegant, graceful and charming woman.
I shall miss our daily phone calls, our weekly shopping trips.

I was honoured and humbled to spend Thursday afternoon with her.    She knew the time had come for her to leave her earthly ties.     She is now with 'her darling' ........her husband died nine years ago and I know that she missed him each and every day.

My heart aches for dear Riley.     He adored Gt a family we meet regularly, and he would always hold her hand, and have a 'little chat.'    I know she treasured these times.

And so dear Peggy, sleep peacefully.     I have learned much from you, things I can carry forward as I climb to the top of your family's ladder.         I thank you for the gift of your son, without you, it would never be .....................

  1. I will now be around for a while. There is much to sort out, family matters.
Mr P and I also intend to take a short break at some point during the next few weeks.

I do so hope that you are all well and enjoying these warm Spring days......

  2. I'm sorry to hear your sad news Cheryl. Know my thoughts and love are with you and Mr P. May you both be blessed and cared for as you care for others. x

  3. My grandma died a few years ago... She was such a vibrant person, she called people of a certain age old biddies, although she never saw herself as one ;-). I was with her when she passed away but thought it not right that it was only me and not her daughters or sons that saw her passing. My mum had only gone out of the room for a short time and her other son was on vacation .... he not realising that she was incapacitated. Sadly Grandma Doris kept her illness to herself. A lovely women

  4. We are deeply sorry to learn of your sad news but know you will both hold on to all your happy memories of Peggy through the days ahead.

Hugs to you both .... FAB and Anita.

  5. I am so sorry, Cheryl; my thoughts and prayers are with you and Mr. P. She sounds like such a lovely lady; I'm sure she would be so honored by your loving tribute to her. May your memories of this kind and gentle woman give you comfort in the days ahead.

    Hugs to all of you,

  6. I am so so sorry to read this Cheryl. I have not been blogging for a while and just now decided to check in with my blogging friends. Mr. P must be devastated to lose his mother, particularly since his Dad has already crossed over.

Peggy sounds like a kind and dear soul and it's no wonder Riley felt drawn to her. Perhaps they share a special bond that will transcend earthy constraints.

Sending love and light to you and your family.

  7. I recall your mentioning her own decision about how to face her illness. She must have been a woman of great faith and courage. You and the entire family will be in my thoughts.

  8. Thinking of you, all loss is hard to bear but you are not alone.

  9. A lovely tribute, Cheryl. You are all in my thoughts...

  10. Hi Cheryl,

    Thinking of you.

You have honored her with your graciousness.
May these weeks be ones of sharing family stories.
May Riley have the gift of his Gt. Grandmother's elegance, he has her gentle ways.
May Mr. P know comfort .
    We send our love,
    Mike and Sherry
