Will summer ever arrive?    It has been another dull damp day with brief spells of sunshine.
I managed to tidy the garden today.    Cutting back plants that have finished flowering.
Enjoying those that are just coming into bloom.
I cannot imagine why I planted these.   Primula Vialii ........I really am beginning to dislike them.    I bought them several years ago from a local nursery.  I thought at the time they were unusual and that appealed.    I think I shall have to find a new home for them....possibly my daughters garden, I have a feeling she will like them.
Now these I do like.   I grow lots and lots of strawberries.    I believe these are 'Tosca'.
I bought them years ago from the farmers wife and they are a firm favourite with the whole family.

I can see in another couple of weeks Strawberries and cream will be on the menu :)

  1. No gardening here today the rain has been torrential with bright sunny moments but not long enough to do anything. I love that plant - I've never seen anything like it and the vivid colour contrast is amazing.

  2. All of your flowers look so pretty. I even like the primula. We have a box of store bought strawberries in the frig right now. Strawberry short cake tonight. :) It is quite misterable here too. It is hot 80+ with that much humidity too. Can't hardly breathe outside. I has been showering here every day this week. I feel like I live in the tropics. Ha...

    2. I don't have asthma Cheryl. I have lots of allergies. I am allergic to almost everything I love. :( I just hate the heat and humidity. Mainly I am whining. I am healthy as a horse.

    3. How awful.
I have developed mild asthma in the last year. A nuisance but am able to control it with alternative options which is good. I do have a pump that I carry with me if I need it.

You never whine and always manage to make me smile................

  3. Hi Cheryl,

Frustrating isn't it all this dull/damp weather? I'm trying to remain positive, I really am.

My Vialii have all gone sadly, but I do think I'd buy some again; I'm sure you will find yours a lovely new home :)

    1. It is Liz, very frustrating. The worse thing for me is not being able to cut the grass.
I always think if the grass is kept neat, people do not notice the weeds and other things that need doing :)

You like them !!! Mine are in very large containers....I now have a small colony of them. Now if it was a plant I loved they would be sure to die .........

  4. And here I am, wishing spring would return:) We've been in the upper 80's and even reached 90 a day or two--not sure what that is in Celsius, but it's definitely hot summer weather! I've been substituting this week, but even if I were home, I couldn't work much past 10 in the morning with this heat and humidity. The Primula Vialii are really striking; I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding a good home for them. Strawberry season is starting here, too--strawberry shortcake is my dessert choice!

    1. We are never happy with the weather are we Rose??

90 is a little too hot for me........ideally 75 would be really nice :)

Lisa mentioned strawberry shortcake....must be a winner.

  6. I know what you mean about the primula Vialii, I look at them sometimes and think I should have them for my garden and then another time I'm not so keen, I can't make up my mind. I do love strawberries though. I've inherited a patch on my new allotment so I didn't know how they'd fare but they look to be doing well, lots of lovely berries just waiting to turn red, though that won't be anytime soon unless this incessant rain stops.

    1. I made a huge mistake planting them........I can be impulsive :( Not a good thing generally. I would not plant them unless you are absolutely sure.

How lovely to have a strawberry patch.......I agree, so tired of getting soaked.
Jobs are mounting in the garden, I am really getting behind .......

Hope you have a warm and sunny weekend......
