It was pleasantly warm today, it was great to be in the garden working without a winter coat.
Our friendly Robin was making the most of the suet in the feeder.
Bees enjoying the  cherry blossom.    As I stood I could hear the gentle drone of the creatures working away amongst the flowers.    I found myself smiling, bees always have that affect on me.
I love this little species tulip...........it appears each year, and never fails to give me pleasure.
I cannot remember it's name.   If anyone knows I would love to hear.

Slowly the garden is changing.    The browns and greys of Winter are slowly turning green.    I am learning to enjoy one day at a time.    Time passes so quickly and too often another gardening year has finished.    I shall enjoy the moment that I am in............

  2. This time of year every day brings a lovely surprise in the garden. I can't wait to get out every morning to see what has emerged from the thawing soil. Such fun. Love your little tulip. I have no idea what it is tho. Our Robins are battling for territory here. They have returned. It is such fun to listen to them and watch them jockeying for the best territory. I saw a mourning dove building a nest in it's favorite shrub. Love this time of year. !!

    1. I think that is the greatest gift of gardening, the element of surprise.
One day bare soil, a week later little shoots, and then suddenly an explosion of colour.

How wonderful to have the mourning dove nesting in your garden. Does that happen each year Lisa ??

      Me to....wonderful time of year.

  3. Hi Cheryl. I have also been enjoying the company of my resident Robin while a few Bees investigate the early Spring flowers. Enjoying each moment is definitely the right way.

Your specie Tulip looks like T. turkestanica.

  4. A little bit of sunshine is definitely food for the soul, it cheers me up no end. How pretty that species tulip is, such a dainty little thing, no wonder it brings you such pleasure as it blooms each year. I've been watching my resident robin eating from the suet feeder too.

    1. It is the most pretty tulip Jo......so fragile and yet each year up it pops.
Each year I think I must plant more but somehow the season progresses and I forget.

  6. Lovely little flower the tulip, mine are on there way through. I have quite enjoyed the slow start to spring, like you said it gives you time to enjoy it more. Some years when it has been warm everything grows so quick and before you know it it's over. Having said that I am looking forward to the lighter nights next week as the clocks change..

  8. We had a few warm days like this last week, and it was such a treat being able to be outside without a coat, listening to the birds singing. It's now turned colder and rainy, so I will treasure each sunny day. Good to see the bees on your cherry blossom; the robins here are already finding materials for their nests. You're so right that time just goes more quickly; every day is to be appreciated!

  9. I find the older I get, the time just flies........I blink and another year has past.
I am learning to live in the now and making each moment one to treasure.

It is bright today but again we have a biting wind.
I am working in the garden, but cannot say it is pleasant............but I will get a lot done Rose :)
