Moss garden.

It is wet and cold today.   Next doors pond is full.   It was empty at the beginning of the year.
Regardless of the weather I decided to take a stroll along the woodland area.    The moss pathway has a natural beauty.    An otherworldly feel.
A garden should give up its secrets slowly.
I notice a tiny fern in the moss.   I did not plant it.
Hidden secrets.    This once was a smiley face.    It is now covered in moss.
The more I look the more I find.

I am ordering ferns today, ready for Spring.
I have plans for a moss garden.    I have the foundations.
I need a project and this is it.
I am excited.

  1. Oh be still my heart, stepping onto that carpet of moss would be divine. Your carpet of moss is more beautiful than a red carpet. Don't you just love the way moss will climb over rocks, stumps or anything that will be still. Nothing more fun than to have a new project. What a delight to find that little fern. It knows a good place to grow when it sees one. I can't wait to see what you do with this area. I have a fake ball of moss that looks much like the smiley face. I will think of this smiley face when I get the other out for decoration this spring. The predicted rain has gone around our area. I hope we get some of it. I hope your area doesn't get too much wind. Hang on to your hat or maybe I should say fleece.

    1. Hi Lisa,
To be honest the carpet of moss has appeared over the last three years. It used to be grass but moss has taken over.
      I love what nature does.
The smiley face was one Poppi put in the garden many years ago. Slowly the moss has creeped over the fact.

I bought a book this morning and found a picture of a moss wood, this will be my guide. I was totally enchanted by it. The more I studied it, the more I realised I have the foundations and right conditions to go along this route.
When the weather improves (ha ha) I will get started.
      I really cannot wait.

  3. Wonderful mosspaths and I should like to have such a great woodland area. I also love mosses in my garden together with ferns on secret shady spots. Wish you success with your new project.

I am sure mother nature will do her part :)

    1. Indeed Amanda. I wonder if you noticed the fairy. My Granddaughter placed one in the garden a while ago.

    1. The weather is gradually turning colder each day.
I feel I may be sitting on the side lines soon and waiting for Spring along with everyone else Wendy.
