It was a busy weekend.    Saturday  was spent fitting the new farmhouse gate, it took longer than expected but still left time to ................
stack the logs for Winter.    I slept well Saturday night :)
Sunday a family get together at the farmhouse.   Youngest grandchild's birthday and did we have fun.
Dominic loved his cake.........he took a while to blow his candles out, he was to busy watching everyone.
Poppi loves a party and spent most of the time laughing.   Dominic adores her and followed her everywhere.
Riley gave Great Grandma a hug.........he has an affinity with the elderly.   My father and Riley were very close, he still misses Great Grandpa.

All in all it was a wonderful day.   The sun shone, we talked, we laughed, we played.
I could not have asked for more.

  1. What a busy weekend you've had, and a lovely family party, what could be better. Eleanor used to have hair like Dominic's when she was his age, it's as straight as a poker now.

    1. It was a very busy weekend......I felt tired by Sunday night but in a nice sort of way :)
I love Dominic's hair, he takes after his mother (who still struggles with her curly locks)

  2. Hi Cheryl
The gate looks splendid - worth all the effort I would say. And you can't beat a pile of well stacked logs to see you through the winter - we still have to order ours - I always feel better when there a full log store to see you through whatever the winter throws at you.

So glad the party went well - everyone is smiling - so that can't be bad. Your grandchildren are all beautiful - they must take after you!

Hope you will be able to take it easy for a bit now all the hard work is over - you deserve it.

    1. Hi Elaine,

If there is one job I enjoy it is stacking logs. My husband and I stack them together, it gets the job done fairly quickly. We ordered early this year, firstly it is cheaper, secondly the weather is better in Summer :)
I love making up a fire and sitting in front of it with a good book.

The grandchildren are beautiful, but I am sure all Grandparents think that of their own.
Me, no I am definitely not beautiful but I do like to think that I am on the inside :)

Have a good week......hope the decorating is coming along nicely.

  4. What a sturdy gate you have and good looking. That should do the trick. You won't be too cold this winter with that stack of wood. You can look back and remember how warm you were while stacking it in the shed.

Ahh the party looks like so much fun for everyone. Dominic is a cutie. I mean he is your grandson so how could he not be?? ;) Riley and Poppi look quite grown up by Dominic. Riley is such a handsome boy. Great Grandma looks so pleased to be amongst them. I am so happy she was able to attend. I know it was good for her to get out. FUN FUN...

    1. Hi Lisa,
We have been waiting to change the gate for quite a while. We had to wait several weeks while it was being made.....another job done.

The party was so fun, it went really well :)

  5. I'm sure you slept like a log after all that work:) What a lovely day--there's nothing better than spending time with family. Dominic is such a cutie, and my, how Riley has grown! He has become quite a handsome young man. Special times.

  6. Oh Cheryl - how the grands have grown! Is that really Poppi in that stunning red dress? What happened to that sweet little garden faerie? Why she turned into a lovely young lady - that's what happens as time swirls around us and changes everything!
And Riley transformed into such a handsome (can you say that these days or is that an old-fashioned word?) young gentleman. I still think of him as a small boy. And now Dominic with the face of a cherub. You must be very proud of them all.

Nice to see Great Grandma enjoying herself under Riley's gentle care. It really doesn't get better than this.
    Warm hugs

    1. They have grown Wendy, so quickly. I truly do not know where the time has gone.
It seems only yesterday they were at my feet.............
Indeed, I am proud of each and everyone of them.
