Bees and blossom........

The bees were out early this morning.   Blossom and sunshine is all they need.    We had an overnight ground frost, and there is cold wind today but that does not seem to deter them.
Large garden, or small.....town or country, small fruit trees are a wonderful addition to any  garden.    Not only for the gardener but for the creatures that live alongside us.
The ancient medlar looks amazing.     I often wonder who planted it...........I spend many a moment gazing at it, thinking of those that came before me.
Pretty in pink, ornamental cherry is a firm favourite...........
along with crab apple.

Have you a favourite blossom ?

  1. When the blooms start coming I am as fickle as could be. As I look at each bloom they are my favorite. I so enjoy seeing the blooms of your garden and of course the busy little bees.

    1. I understand Lisa......I can be a little fickle too !!!
Spring blossom is so very special. I await the old apple tree blossom......she always seems to save herself until most blossom has finished :)

  2. I love the ornamental cherry, I can understand why it's a firm favourite. I don't think I have a particular favourite blossom, I love them all.

    1. The ornamental cherry is so pretty.....not much good to wildlife, but sometimes I do plant something just for me :) The vast majority of this garden has been planted with wildlife in mind.................

  3. Love the colour of the crab apple blossom, with its pink tinges - but I don't have a particular favourite just like them all. This is such a glorious season, the colour explodes and brings such joy

I think we are in for cooler nights ... just enjoy the sun when it's here!

    All the best Jan

  5. Lovely blossoms, I really admire old medlars but the pretty pink of your ornamental cherry is wonderful too. I cannot mention a favourite, they are all so pretty.
According to the weather forecast we get groundfrost too tonight.

    1. Hello Janneke
We had a ground frost again last night. It is rather tiresome, I have my annuals ready and waiting to go into pots in the garden. I think I must wait a few more weeks.

  6. We had the same weather too - heavy frost and a cold wind all day. Me, well I love apple blossom. My ornamental cherry (which was in the garden when we moved in) is a gaudy pink not really to my taste - but it does look spectacular at the moment I have to say. There were plenty of bees about in my garden too. There used to be a lovely old medlar at the entrance to our local garden centre and I used to collect the fruit - unfortunately some bright spark decided it was in the way and chopped it down - I could have cried, it was a lovely tree.

    1. Morning Elaine,

How very sad......I would be devastated. I suppose it now comes under 'health and safety'
The tree was potentially dangerous. A crazy world.........it is amazing how we managed to grow up in a world without health and safety :) BUT WE DID !

    1. Oh dear, always sad when that happens. The rain has just arrived In kent. Quite enjoying it as it has been several weeks since we had any :)

  10. The crabapples are my favorite, but only because we have so many of them, and they're in full bloom right now. I'm enjoying the redbuds, too, which I know aren't fruit trees, but they're especially gorgeous at the moment. Native redbuds and crabapples line the interstate highway, making even a trip to run errands in town a delightful experience. I have to be careful to watch the road:)

  11. Stunning photos. I love apple blossom and cherry blossom. Haven't any in my garden but the garden at the back has a huge (not sure what) tree with gorgeous white blossom. A very windy day yesterday, and you could be forgiven for thinking it was snowing in my garden! P x
