Summer has arrived !!

There are lots of insects in the garden.    Flying this way and that.    This one found the camera fascinating......
The perfume from Armandii drifts around the garden.
It is hot today, around 25C (78F).    More like summer .......
Most daffodils have faded but this is a late bloomer.      I love the tinge of green on the petals.
 Ferns have started to unfurl,
bleeding hearts are making an appearance,
 and maples are in flower.
This period of heat will finish as the day ends.    Tomorrow we will be back to temperatures more suited to April.
What an up down Spring it has been.

  1. No summer weather here, it's been threatening rain all afternoon. We have had insects about though, it's been delightful watching the Peacock butterflies chasing each other and the buzzy bees doing what they do best...buzzing. My daffodils are nearly finished now but the tulips are just beginning. I moved my dicentra last year as it was getting too big for its boots where it was and I'm pleased to see that it's survived. Not everything responds to my attention so well.

    1. I was pleased to see lots of butterflies in the garden today....peacock, orange tip, brimstone (my favourite) and a blue..........
Also lots of bees.....although the mason bees have not left their units yet....lots of blossom waiting for them.

Wish I had some of your rain.... for just a couple of hours :)

    1. It is a lovely daffodil Janneke. I wish I knew its name. I bought a pack of mixed bulbs last year and it was amongst those..........

  3. That is summer temperatures. We have been about on target with our temps and the rain has let up for about a week. We are to get some rain tonight and the next couple of days. I really want some now because we have planted two small trees. I have so many projects I want to do. Must get busy. ;)

  4. We've had glorious sunny summer like weather today. The countryside looked amazing and the butterflies were dancing.

However, knowing our weather it's bound to be snowing soon! I do hope not but you can never tell.

    All the best Jan

  5. Hi Cheryl
It has been truly glorious spring weather (almost too good to be true) but welcome nonetheless. I love this time of year when the garden just can't help blooming and everything growing like the clappers. So sad that the daffs are going over now - like you I have a late bloomer that is just opening - it is the most delicate narcissus I have ever seen - hopefully I will be able to get a good shot once it has opened.

Hope you are managing to get plenty done in the garden but not tiring yourself out - I have to keep having rest breaks sitting on the bench with a cup of tea and admiring my handiwork - still loads to do though. Have a good weekend my friend.

    1. Look forward to seeing your narcissus Elaine.............I love delicate blooms.

I am doing my best to keep up with the garden. Unfortunately I had a fall last week while taking care of the Grandchildren. Running through a wood at the time......problem with me is I still think I am 5 years old :)
Have hurt my shoulder and rib cage......very painful at the moment.

Hope the weather holds Elaine.................have fun in the garden, with plenty of bench time and cups of tea :)

    2. Oh Cheryl hope you aren't in too much pain - it's hard to realise you are no longer as young as you used to be. Take care and rest as much as you can - I know it's hard. Have a good weekend - it has been quite cold here today - hope it picks up for the weekend.

    3. Thanks Elaine.....it is very painful at the moment but I will be seeing an osteopath next week. I am hoping she will be able to help.

Cold here today........have a good weekend

    1. No swallows here yet Amanda.......although I did hear the cuckoo this morning.
I have also heard the skylark singing, which for me is sweeter than any choir :)

  7. We had a taste of summer last week, too, but I was in Texas at the time visiting the youngest grandson. Beckie took some photos of my garden and sent them to me, and I was afraid I was going to miss all the tulips. But fortunately, most were still in bloom when we returned home, and the cooler weather this week should help them stay around awhile, I hope. But what a change in 10 days' time!
